Introduction
I designed and implemented a confidential scientific analysis platform that helped domain experts move through a complex, interdependent workflow in the browser. The platform connected user inputs, uploaded analysis data, backend calculations, and visual results into a guided sequence.
The challenge
The workflow was strictly linear: each step depended on validated data from the previous one. The interface had to prevent users from skipping required inputs while still feeling transparent and respectful of expert users who were used to technical desktop tools.
My contribution
- Translated domain-specific requirements into a modular web workflow.
- Created prototypes to align the team on process order, required inputs, and data dependencies before implementation.
- Built the React front end with route-based modules, global state, persistent progress, validation, and API communication.
- Designed tables, chart views, loading states, error handling, and result summaries for complex analysis outputs.
- Coordinated with domain experts and backend engineers across time zones to keep the workflow technically accurate and usable.
Outcome
The first delivered version allowed expert users to run the full workflow through a browser-based interface, reducing context switching between tools and making analysis progress more traceable.
